About the Foundation

About the Foundation: The Foundation was established in 2002, with the Dalai Lama’s endorsement and advice, by a core founding group including long-time friends of the Dalai Lama and members of the Silicon Valley business community. A letter from His Holiness invites all to join us in our work. Participation is open to all, and we warmly welcome anyone who wishes to support the Dalai Lama’s vision for a better world to join with us.

The foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization, with a board of directors and paid and volunteer staff. The foundation is international in scope with our circle of friends from many countries around the world such as India, Nigeria, Canada, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.  Our physical headquarters is in Redwood City, California, USA.

Our Programs: Our main program focus is in the area of education, promoting and developing projects, curricula, and learning materials, for ethics and peace. Our initial offering was a Study Guide for the Dalai Lama’s book Ethics for the New Millennium. This guide is available for downloading by anyone wishing to form a study circle to engage in their own exploration of values and ethics. That was followed by modules and curriculum for The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama. You will find a wide range of resources for ethics and peace listed throughout our web site, including books and videos.

Our Partners: The foundation partners with other organizations on initiatives related to education for ethics and peace. The mix of projects changes from time to time, but you can always find the most current information online.
